Valse Statique_the project_ What is Valse statique et la théorie du combo? Valse statique is a graphic experience exploring the creativity-potential of the association of ideas. It would be impossible to exactly represent the indefinite number of brain-connections linking ideas. This project establishes a system of association of images. In doing so, it allows to keep each step from one idea to the other. These successive steps generate forms that would have been difficult to imagine. Valse statique’s goal is to create images that wouldn’t have been imaginable. 1_ The chain of ideas is made up of information gathered in memory. The first phase consists in the creation of an artificial memory. A serial of illustrations inspired by the lexical field of a chain of ideas, association, fusion, transformation, deformation, separation, destruction, préoccupation, thought, connection, marriage, interaction, dark ideas, intermingling, relation, direct links and indirect links, mutation, hope, games, food, metaphor, mixture, combination, clone, adaptation, evolution, development, trouble, mobile, immobile…

2_ The second phase is called « combo », in animation-form, and is fed by the memory that defines its style. The “combo” consists in taking a certain form and to transform it depending on what it could look like, 12 frames per second, every frame depends on the one preceding it. The « Combo » generates a serial of absurd images that look like the ones appearing in our mind during a fraction of a second between two concrete thoughts.

3_ The third phase is called « Combo Royal », its goal is to use the images of the« Combo » and to cut them in order to obtain images that come from the innermost parts of my mind.

4_ This gave me some news images. I was the tool, the catalyst, director and witness of the production of these images but I would have nevertheless been incapable of imagining them.
